Native to India and South Asia, Haritaki powder hails from the fruit of the plant. Traditionally used in Ayurveda, Haritaki is one of three herbs that make up Triphala.

In Ayurveda, Haritaki powder is most commonly used to support ‘vata’ dousha. Someone with Vata characteristics may be lean and delicate physically, like a model or marathon runner, and tend to be creative, light and enthusiastic. Vata types can experience issues with sleep, and if out of balance for prolonged periods can experience anxiety and joint pain.
Haritaki is a rich source of vitamin C and E, antioxidants and is used as an effective anti-inflammatory.
Haritaki powder has been used to aid the healing of conditions like sore throat and allergies, to digestive issues including constipation and frequent indigestion.

Serving suggestions:
1 tablespoon per day before or after a meal. Haritaki can be made into a tea, mix one teaspoon in a cup of hot water and stir well. It can have a bitter taste so try adding a little honey, agave, ginger or lemon as per your preference.
