Commonly used in teas, cooking, and traditional wellness preparations, lemongrass has long been valued across Asia for its cleansing and uplifting qualities.

What is Lemongrass Powder?
Lemongrass powder is created by harvesting mature lemongrass leaves, gently drying them, and grinding them into a fine green powder. Unlike synthetic flavourings, the powder retains the whole-plant profile including naturally occurring essential oils and phytonutrients, giving it a bright citrus character with subtle herbal notes.
It is commonly used to make herbal infusions, add depth to soups and curries, or incorporated into functional blends for everyday wellbeing.
History of Use
Lemongrass has been used for centuries in traditional systems of wellness throughout India, Sri Lanka, Thailand, and other parts of Southeast Asia. In Ayurveda and folk herbal traditions, it has often been prepared as a warming tea, taken after meals, or used as part of cleansing routines.
Beyond wellness applications, lemongrass has long been valued in cooking for its ability to lift dishes with fresh citrus notes, as well as in traditional household preparations for its aromatic properties.
Possible Benefits of Lemongrass Powder
Lemongrass contains a range of naturally occurring plant compounds, including essential oils such as citral, along with flavonoids and phenolic compounds that contribute to its distinctive aroma and traditional use.
Traditionally, organic lemongrass powder has been used to:
Support digestion and post-meal comfort
Promote a feeling of freshness and lightness
Contribute to daily hydration when taken as a tea
Provide gentle warming and cleansing qualities in traditional practice
In Ayurvedic terms, lemongrass is considered aromatic, light, and warming in nature, and is commonly associated with balancing Kapha, while being used carefully in broader dosha-supportive routines.
At Detox Trading we stock a large range of amazing Ayurvedic herb powders.
Suggested use:
Make a tea – boil 1 cup of filtered water and pour it over ½ teaspoon of lemongrass powder. Cover in a pot or mug and let it steep for 5–10 minutes, then strain, sweeten if desired, and enjoy. Lemongrass tea is naturally caffeine-free and can be enjoyed throughout the day; for a stronger infusion, increase the ratio of powder to water and steep for longer.
Lemongrass powder can also be added to smoothies or juices for a fresh citrus lift, stirred into soups, curries, or broths for aromatic depth, mixed into marinades or dressings with ginger and garlic, or blended into herbal and functional powder mixes for everyday use.
Precautions
Lemongrass is widely consumed as a culinary herb and tea and is generally considered safe when taken in normal food amounts. If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, taking medication, or have a medical condition, consult a qualified healthcare professional before using regularly or in concentrated amounts.
Discontinue use if any adverse reaction occurs. This product is intended as a food ingredient and not as a substitute for a varied diet or medical advice.
