Valerian root powder, hailing from the valerian plant, is a flowering plant native to Europe and parts of Asia that blooms beautiful pink and white flowers in the summer months. Studies have shown that valerian can reduce the time it takes to fall asleep and can help improve quality of sleep. In fact a study by the Foellinge Health Center in Sweden reported that 89% of participants in a sleep study experienced improved sleep after taking valerian.

Valerian is so effective as a sleep aid because it contains linarin, a chemical that acts as a sedative by calming activity in the central nervous system. Unlike many prescription sleep aids, valerian has little to no side effects and does not trigger the groggy, drowsy effects often experienced the next morning after taking a conventional sleeping pill.
Not only used for sleep, valerian is also believed to help calm anxiety and reduce stress. It is thought it does this because it increases GABA in the brain, which is said to help regulate nerve cells and reduce feelings of anxiety and stress.
Other products that can help with sleep are passion flower and mucuna.
This product has been tested for heavy metals, e.coli, yeast, mould, salmonella and foreign matter. This product contains no bulking agents, added sugar, palm oil or GMO.
Suggested use:
Brew as a tea, add 1 cup boiling water to 1 teaspoon (2g – 3g) valerian powder, steep for 5 minutes and strain if necessary. For best results take 2 hours to 1/2 hour before bed.
