UK Trading Standards have now made Mesquite Meal (Powder) into a 'novel food' under EU government law.
"A novel food is defined as a food or food ingredient that does not have a significant history of consumption within the EU before 15 May 1997." FSA
This means that Mesquite – despite being a traditional Native American food for centuries, is now an illegal food throughout the whole of the UK and Europe.
Although we have succesfully sold Mesquite since we have been trading as a wonderful food, we are not able to sell it as such from this point forward.
We have some stock that we are selling off cheap - normally £17.00 a Kilo now £10 a Kilo.
