Ingredients: 100% Cacao powder
Country of Origin: Peru
How our organic cacao powder is made
Our raw cacao powder is made from Criollo cacao beans grown in Peru.
Once the cacao beans have been roasted and shelled, they are ground to make a cacao paste. Applying heat and pressure separates the cacao butter from the soft cacao powder we have here.
What are the benefits of cacao powder?
Raw cacao powder is a nutrient-dense superfood, with raw being the most important word! Raw cacao powder is a much better choice than processed “cocoa” powder, since the raw version retains more nutrients, flavonoids, and antioxidants.
When used as part of your diet, organic cacao powder can support:
- Heart and cardiovascular health: Raw cacao powder rich in flavanols (a natural antioxidant compound which can help expand blood vessels).
- Brain function and mood elevation: Pure cacao is full of mood-boosting compounds, including serotonin, tryptophan, and epicatechin.
- Mineral consumption: Cacao powder acts as a strong source of magnesium, iron, zinc, and potassium.
- Inflammation reduction: Since organic cacao powder is naturally high in antioxidants, it can help fight free radicals and reduce oxidative stress, lowering inflammation throughout the body.
- Metabolism: Cacao is full of fibre, which can promote a feeling of fullness, supporting regulated metabolic function.
How to use organic cacao powder for health and wellness benefits
To feel the wellness effects of cacao powder, you’ll need to integrate it into your diet. Raw cacao powder is naturally bitter and unsweetened, but there are a few ways to turn it into a nourishing meal or beverage.
Raw cacao powder is rich in theobromine, a stimulating compound with many health benefits, so it’s best enjoyed earlier in the day and not in the evening.
Add to smoothies and drinks
Add 1-2 tablespoons of your organic cacao powder to your smoothies and protein shakes for an antioxidant boost.
Stir into your breakfast
Stir some raw cacao powder into your morning porridge, smoothie bowls, or Greek yoghurt for a rich, creamy flavour. A dash of agave syrup, maple syrup, or honey can sweeten the flavour.
Make hot cacao
Whisk 1-2 teaspoons of organic cacao powder into a milk of your choice (we recommend almond or coconut milk), and sweeten with maple syrup, agave syrup, or honey.
Upgrade your coffee
Increase your focus with a homemade mocha! Add 1 teaspoon of cacao powder to your usual morning coffee, and you’ll be good to go.
Combine into raw energy balls
Raw energy balls are an excellent low-effort, high-nutrient snack. Combine cacao powder with healthy nuts, organic dates, and chia seeds for a grab-and-go energy bite.
