Organic Cacao (Cocoa) Powder
Our organic cacao powder, grown in Peru, is made from the Criollo variety of cacao bean.
After roasting and shelling, the cacao beans are ground to make cacao liquor/paste, this liquor hardens to into an unsweetened, chocolate-like consistency when it cools to room temperature.

Pressure and heat is then applied to the cocoa liquid to separate the ‘butter’ from the ‘cake’, leaving a solid yellow cacao butter and the soft, powdered cacao powder (the cake). Organic cacao powder is commonly used in food preparation, especially in cakes, desserts and hot chocolate, and in its natural form has a bitter, unsweetened taste.

Perfect for baking, sweet treats, making chocolate, adding to smoothies, shakes, and in hot chocolate, this cacao is incredibly versatile and makes a great replacement for conventional cocoa powders. Best used with natural sweeteners such as coconut palm sugar, agave nectar, maple syrup or date syrup.
