Xylitol natural sweetener is an odourless, crystalline powder that has a sweet, sugar-like flavour. Whilst its name ‘xylitol’ sounds like it should be some kind of horrible chemical, in actual fact it’s simply an extract from birch bark. As birch trees are not agriculturally grown, it can’t be certified organic (or non-organic for that matter!). With a glycemic index score of just 7 (sugar is typically 70, more info on this below), plus the fact that it is 100% water soluble makes Xylitol a fantastic sugar alternative.

Glycemic index?
