Iodine?

Your body craves iodine as there’s no where near enough in our diets and seaweed is arguably the best way to get it. Up to a third of the population are at risk of iodine deficiency.

Iodine is a very important mineral that helps the thyroid gland to function properly. The thyroid is important for regulating your metabolism and for repairing cell damage.

The NHS say that adults need 140 micrograms (μg) of iodine a day but of course you can have more than this. Sugar Kelp contains 272,150 micrograms per 100g of iodine which makes it one of the most concentrated natural sources of iodine on the planet. To put this in context, another seaweed that is considered a  good source of iodine is sea lettuce which only contains 4300 micrograms per 100g…so sugar kelp contains 632 times more iodine!

Other than iodine, Organic Sugar Kelp contains a broad spectrum of macro nutrients including  7567mg per 100g of potassium (this is ridiculously high!) making it an incredibly nutritionally rich food.
