These indigo-coloured berries are packed full of antioxidants, potassium, and vitamin C. Blueberries only contain 57 calories per 100g and can provide a significant portion of the daily recommended intake of fibre and vitamin C.

While they can be found in supermarkets all year round, the seasoned fruit is generally at its best between May and October. 

It has a relatively higher sugar content but a serving a few times a week could be the best thing for you. Have it in a fruit salad, or with yoghurt for a delightful treat.

Bananas are one of the best and most known sources of potassium, which helps prevent strokes, boosts bone health, and can lower blood pressure. But that’s not all, as bananas contain significant amounts of vitamins A, B, and C, and can be ideal for when you need an instant boost of energy.

  1. Coffee

Loaded with antioxidants and caffeine, coffee has some psychological and psychoactive properties as it increases mental alertness and there is research that suggests it can lower the risk of Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease.

It is also one of the most loved hot beverages around, and a cup of coffee can help you through the day when you’re feeling mentally fatigued. You might want to avoid drinking coffee catering the day so it doesn’t interrupt your sleep!

  1. Dark chocolate

It won’t be a surprise to some people, but dark chocolate is good for you. It is rich in antioxidants and flavonoids, which help to lower blood pressure, improve blood flow, and boost the health of your heart.

Make sure the chocolate you eat has more than 70% of the cocoa. More cocoa means more powerful antioxidants and more health benefits. If you are not sure of the percentage, try to break the chocolate. If the sound is loud and cracking, that means you have rich chocolate.
